NATIONALS

I've been talking about how the dance team was going to go on this trip to Disney World right, and we just got back and it was the most amazing thing ever and totally different then I had ever thought that it would be. First off, I got way closer to my friends (even though we already were close). We spent so much time together and got to share the most incredible feeling ever together. When arriving at the airport on Friday, everyone was excited, even the parents. Nobody could contain themselves and everyone was taking pictures and letting their adrenaline run wild. It took about 45 minutes in the plane to Chicago then we waited another 3 and 1/2 hours at the Chicago airport until boarding our plane to Florida which was a 2 and 1/2 hour flight. By that time it was about 11pm before we actually got to our hotel. We all stayed up way to late that Friday night, considering we all had to get up at 5 then next morning to get ready, doing hair, makeup, costumes, etc. Some of us were running on 2 hours of sleep. The next day we went to the MGM Studios park where we competed at the Indiana Jones show stage. We walked in and took a look at the stage and our hearts started racing. The anticipation kicked in while we waited until it was our turn to compete.

We ran onto the stage for our pom routine and the feeling I got while performing there was the best feeling I have ever experienced. Being with the girls I know and love and dancing at Disney World and giving our entire all to this dance, it was just, undescribable. We came back off the stage feeling amazing about our performance and when awards rolled around, we had made it into semifinals. Now it was time for our jazz dance. We've always struggled with jazz this year so we were really not looking forward to performing it. Not to mention seeing all the other groups before we went that were absolutely flawless, it totally brought down our self confidence. So we ran out onto the stage, nervously, and competed our jazz. It wasn't really the same feeling when we ran off stage and we felt way worse about our performance but it was okay. We came here thinking that our pom would do incredible and didn't expect anything from jazz. The awards rolled around again and we were so embarassed that we didn't even go down to floor like all of the other groups had. We just sat in the bleachers listening to the names of the other teams being called when all of a sudden we heard the announcer say,"KENNEDY HIGH SCHOOL IS IN FINALS" and immediately we all started bawling. We didn't expect anything at all and we made it into finals! We went happily back to our hotel to get some sleep for the next day where we had to compete again.

Sunday, we competed at the ESPN center still getting up at like 5 in the morning though. We arrived to the arena and our mouths dropped. The stage and the seating was huge. It was totally incredible and we couldn't wait to perform. We went backstage and got ready to compete our pom. We didn't really expect anything else. We were in the top 25 in the nation what else could you want? So we just went out and gave it our everything. After running off the stage everyone felt amazing again. But this time it was more. We anxiously awaited awards again, not expecting anything at all. We had gotten what we wanted. But as they were reading the pom teams who had made it into finals, we heard our name again and we all started crying. It was totally amazing. So we went and did our pom dance once again and this time was the last time we would ever compete it so we did the best that we could and gave everything. We didn't really care what happened after this point. We later did our jazz and we finally pulled it together and we all felt amazing about it as well. We went into awards not expecting anything once again. We found out that we got 16th in both pom and jazz which is pretty darn good.

It was the most amazing feeling in the entire world and I wish that everyone could experience what it was like sometime in their life. If you want to see our performances, the website is http://www.varsity.com/event/1326/2010_national_dance_team_championship.aspx and just type in our school name in the box and you can find our dances.

Avatar

A long time ago I saw the most amazing movie ever: Avatar. I totally forgot to blog about it so I decided that I would now. You have the choice of seeing the movie regularly or in 3D mode, and of course we paid the extra 5 bucks to see the 3D but it was completely worth it. I didn't expect the movie to be anything like how it turned out to be. I thought it was going to be some stupid animal fighting movie but it turned out to be something a lot greater then that. The main character, Jake's, brother died just before he was going to be deployed to this planet to study avatars and then essentially become an avatar. It takes a lot of schooling and knowledge to work these avatars. The doctors suggested that Jake go in place of his brother because he was paralyzed from the waist down, so this would give him a new experience to walk again. After arriving to the planet Pandora, Jake is soon turned into his own Avatar and explores the world of the real Avatars. He gets stuck out one night after almost being eaten by the other Pandora animals, and meets the girl of his dreams, Navi, who is a real Avatar. This story is very confusing unless you can understand all of the little details and actually see what it going on in the movie. Jake eventually finds out that the other scientists are trying to destroy the real Avatar's home to get to the rare substance found on the planet, and he tries to stop them. He falls in love with Navi and decides that he can never leave her. I'm not going to give the ending away because there are a lot of details that I left out which would be very confusing.

I would recommend this movie to anyone because it's got love, fighting, happiness, friendship, anger and all of the things one could ask for in a movie. It also has great effects and the computer graphics are amazing. It switches between real people to computer people sometimes as well. I would tell you to see it in 3D though if you are going to see it, because it makes it just that much better. It's kind of a long movie, 2 and a half hours, but it doesn't seem like that long when you're watching this incredible movie.

Only 2 Days!

So, I just realized that the dance team is going to be in Florida in two days! The weather is supposed to be nice and we get to go to Disney World! We've worked really hard though and practices have made people cry ocasionally but now when it comes down to it, we don't even care how we dance, we're just happy that we're going to Florida!

I've been to Disney World 3 other times before this and so this time is going to be a little bit of a let down compared to all of the rest. We don't really get to have the "Disney Experience" because we're only going to get to go to Disney for 3 days then we have to return home. With my family, we would always go to all 4 of the parks, make dinner reservations at the best restaurants, and just get some time to relax. I can garauntee that none of this will happen. But eh, oh well we still get to miss two days of school to go be in the 70 degree weather! Not to mention there is going to be 16 of my friends going along with me!

Once you get to Disney though, you never, ever want to leave. There is so much to do and see that you just want to stay there forever. There are characters walking around the parks from all of your favorite movies, there are endless giftshops with millions of Disney items to purchase, there are some really unique stands that sell Mickey Mouse shaped fill in the blank, and to top it all of, there is happiness. When you enter the park you can just feel everyone around you having the feeling of joy and happiness. I mean it's Disney World! Who is going to be in a bad mood?!

I plan on buying my friends some presents while I'm in Disney because they have a lot of neat stuff there that you can't buy in other states. My parents are going to Florida with us as well, so I can take back some of my bigger stuff in their suitcases!
